June 27, 2006

so the much awaited entry about my diving trip. =)
finally got the pictures from S.

i did 5 dives in total. first 2 dives tested on our skills [in order to get our license. he he he. license to dive sey. =P]

third one was graduation dive. 4th and 5th were leisure dives.
first 2 dives. 6 m and 8m deep respectively.
the rest were all 18 m. =))

i had trouble. as i have mentioned before i left.
i had problem equalizing my ears. at 6 m, i felt my ear drums were going to explode, i was ready to cry. it was so painful, i nearly wanted to call it off.

i ended up last on the line. last to descend for most of the dives. but yes, after first dive, S kept telling me to take my own time so yah. i did. wait till you hear abt my third dive.

so anyways, all the skills very good. all pass. =))

the boy likes to take unruly photos of me changing into my wet suit. he he he. =P

our only life support.

sit by the edge of the boat, lean back, hold the mask with your right hand, hold the back of your mask with your left, regulator in your mouth, check.

and get ready to fall backwards.

whoosssshhhh….. =))

then paddle backwards towards the island and wait for everyone to gather.

tadah. wait for the signal from the divemaster or the instructor before you descend. again, i had problems during my graduation dive. the boy ditched his leisure group to join us.
so he was my buddy for the graduation dive.

took so long to equalize my ears, robin, my instructor had to come and guide me down slowly. i kept blowing and blowing my nose but it didnt seem to work.

robin guiding me down, thank heavens i had such a patient instructor.

even so, robin had to leave me behind with S cause he left 2 more divers somewhere.

then the boy had a laugh. he said i descended down very funnily. [he's starting to call me underwater ballerina or how i would put it: the dancing descending diver.] he he he.
can’t help it what. it’s not like i know how to descend graciously. sheesh.

but yes, after so much swishing around, we got lost. hehehe. actually the boy lost his sense of directions. [he blamed me. bah.]

we had to ascend to see our direction, then descended again and had to repeat the whole ordeal of equalizing.

after less then 10 minutes of swimming around, the boy thought they were carrying out a rescue and search mission to hunt for us which i personally found fairly amusing. but yes, we ascended cause of that and went back to the boat.
we spent only 29 minutes during the third dive.

my boyfriend has taken over my role as a kanchiong spider. ;)

our 4th dive was the best. the boy followed us learners again. [it's just a ploy, he likes me to be his buddy. =P]

shut up. objects underwater appear to be 33% larger ok. gah.

i must really teach the boy how to take nicer pictures of me, whether on land or under waters.

HELLO!! =D

once i managed to equalize my ears properly, everything was hunky dory. it was so much fun cause all of us couldnt talk, so i could only hear my breathing and see the breath taking view that greeted me. ahhh… it was awesome. i like to hear my breathing. heh.

and it’s pretty romantic, having to hold hands with your boyfriend underwaters and finning around being greeted by fishies. =) [ok ok ok, a tiny emo part. k. sheesh. ]

look honey! =))

the clownfish was ready to attack the boy cause he came to near. but i swear if i had a net with me i would have captured the clown fish. they are amazingly adorable!!!!!!!!!!!
tsk. i think they are AMAZING creatures. everytime i come near, the biggest fish will come out and give me the menacing stare. so protective it’s unbelievable.

so while the boy was busy snapping photos underwater, i was swimming ahead of him. i had to constantly turn around to make sure he’s still behind me in fear i’ll lose him.

he never listens to robin one. ppl say buddies must hold hands, he’ll hold my hand for 5 minutes, then when something catches his eye, he will go take photo.

he defended himself by saying that when he’s behind me he can have a clear view of me and make sure im safe. so sweet right. [ok. fine. emo part 2.]

tts the problem see, cause then i cannot see him. but yes, afterwhile i got excited looking at other specimens also. besides, having a personal photographer is not such a bad idea. all i have to do underwater is pose. *grins*

sea urchins

land on this and prepare to just die out of pain. i nearly crashed landed on this not for robin who pulled me up.

and i crashed landed on a bed of corals though the boy did try to help me by pulling my weight belt but ya lah, im just too heavy. hehe. my knees were scraped slightly.

in actual fact, they are very pretty. they have these blue neon lights on them. very captivating. =)

my last dive was awesome as well. 4th and 5th were the best.
stayed underwater for close to an hour for my last dive.

we got sea sick. i puked a bit. [food for the fishies.]
S got sick as well and didnt dive.

i nearly wanted to pull out but thank god i didnt!
i saw a blue-spotted stingray!!!!!
and an eel!!!

i saw this uberly beautiful starfish and a gazillion nemos!! wah!
i even saw a triggerfish!

it’s beyond words.
i could have just died out of ecstacy.

i didnt want to ascend! i wanted to swim about more.
hell, i even experienced a slight current underwater.
that was so cool, cause i didnt have to move my thunder thighs at all, all i did was stood still and the water brought me around but i got separated from my buddy and had to hunt for her.

underwater, everyone looks the same to me. heh.

i was so delirious after the 5th dive.
the stingray was just amazing man.

so, swim to the boat

remove your weight belt and pass it to the boat man.

then your flippers. i tell you thank god i wore my purple flippers. everyone else’s were yellow and blue. so i felt safer like you know, im more ‘identifiable’ underwater.

first time lah, im entitled to be paranoid k.

and up you go on the boat.

remove your gears and deflate your BCD. done. =)

my buddy for dive number 2 and 5. isabella had trouble equalizing also. so we ended up last and had to pair up together. =)

buddy boy.

get back to shore on a tiny yellow speedboat.

it was hilarious trying to walk to shore with flippers on. everyone kept asking us to remove our flippers but there were so many stones i just refused to do so cause i didnt want to scrap my soles. we ended up falling down so many times. hee.

pack up your gear and get ready for lunch.

toured the island during night time with the boy. after having dinner with the group, we had dinner again some place else. hee. wasn’t that fantastic lah. newton still the best. =)

they even screened soccer but it rained so we had to leave.

then journey back to singapore. isabella and i in mersing.

the group. final shot in tioman.

till i fill more dives in my log book… stay tuned. =)
