plus, im doing another emcee stint for Citibank on the 25th of november at the Supreme Courts Auditorium.
i swear i owe Doc Eve a huuuuugggeeeeee big ass meal. If not for her, i wouldnt be here lah k, getting paid while emceeing. mannn…..

hmmm… i didnt make any cookies, cept for the chocie cake which i helped anna do.
Day started with dad’s colly storming up into the house with full force to eat mummy’s cooking. ha ha ha ha. just so you know, norah jones has been on loop for the past 3 days cause i cannot stand the songs they play on radio. [plus my dad has this uncanny habit of switching it to the malay channel during raya, which is funny cause he gets irritated by them too. hmmm...]
the whole house was freezing cause dad decided to conveniently turn on every single air condition system, which totals to 4. on 22degC. plus the blasting air condition system in the living room was abit wonky. i think. why are we at air condition system again?
Yes, i did not have new clothes this yr, simply cause i dont see the need to splurge on clothes tt cost a few hundred bucks for a one day event. i have tons of clothes that are a few yr olds, which i wore only say less than 5 times. and i dont think ppl will remember, which obviously wasn’t the case when i entered herman’s house. the first thing i heard was both alyssa and herman commenting on my outfit which they saw years ago. -.-

so that was the hari raya day. heh. and now, back to the humdrum of life in dreaded SB.

Prep time: 15 mins
Total time: 45-50 minutes.

Hunter-Style Chicken. heh. it’s really an italian version of chicken stew. it’s fun to make. really. the smell is amazing.
Ok… ingredients are [serves 4]:
- Mushrooms [anykind will do. shitake is fine. but i tried that japanese long thin ones. heh.]
- 5 garlic cloves, thinly sliced.
- 1.5 tablespoons of Olive oil.
- Coarse salt and pepper.
- 1/1/3 cups of crushed tomatoes. [NOT tomato puree.]
- 3/4 big onion. cut them up.
- 1/2 of red pepper
- 1/2 of green pepper
- 1/2 of yellow pepper
- Strips of Orange Zest. [orange skin]
- 1/4 teaspoon of crushes rosemary leaves.
- 1/4 of cayenne pepper. [paprika will do too.]
- 435g of boneless, skinless chicken thighs. cut them into chunks.[Can change them to prawns if you prefer. but must by those big chunky prawns, not those tiny chapalang kind k. slit across the middle so it looks nicer. =))]

For the mushrooms, do not wash them. i learnt this from Sham’s sister. you just pat them on a paper napkin to remove the dirt. Break them into strands and place them aside.
The red, green and yellow peppers have BRILLIANT colours. i got excited just from buying them. heh. so you cut them into half, remove the insides cause they are bitter and you cut them up into slices. =) just half of each will do to add colours to the stew.
The orange zest. ok. so you thinly peel the orange skin and cut them into real tiny strips. this takes a abit of time. so pop your favourite cd in so you can listen to it. norah jones was on today. =) do not throw away the orange. i altered the ingredient abit.

Thinly slice the 5 cloves of garlic. this will stink up your hand ladies. plus peeling the onions and cutting them up as well. so be prepared to have stinky hands for the whole day. =PP
Just look at the amazing colours will you? my god. ok. so place the peppers and the onion and wash them ok. drain the excess water and place them aside.
My apple-printed glass mat that i so adore. Super easy to clean lah. just dont cut your chicken up on this cause you will break the glass. vegetables, bread, potatoes, garlic, onions are all fine. =)
Buy a handy can opener so you dont have to cut your hands while opening up the can. heh. it removes the entire lid! I’m so impressed. i didnt even get my hands anywhere the lid. amazing.
I used Hunt’s brand whole tomatoes. they have whole tomatoes inside, so it’s good. Don’t get tomato puree cause it’s not as nice ok. Or if you’re not lazy, you can go crush your own tomatoes, though that will take slightly longer time.
1.5 tablespoons of Bertolli Olive Oil.
Everyone should convert to using Olive Oil k.
Healthy and cholestrol free.
Heat up your pot with the oil, throw in the garlic and mix it around with a wooden ladle till the garlic browns abit.
Throw in the mushrooms, coarse salt and pepper to taste. Let the mushrooms absorb the garlic-y taste. Once the smell gets into your face, heh, you know it’s time to move on with other ingredients. You need to put in 1/4 cup of water in here BUT don’t. i realised you should use the orange juice instead. it makes more sense. you use the skin, now use the juice as well.
So squeeze in the whole orange inside. ok? very good.
Throw in the crushed tomatoes and the thinly sliced orange zest.

Throw in the colourful vegetables and onions. AMAZING. i LOVE peppers and onions. the smell is brilliant.
Throw in the cubes of chicken inside and stir. Put in the remaining ingredients, rosemary leaves, cayenne Peppers, i used paprika instead. taste it and put in more salt and pepper to taste.
Let the dish simmer until the liquid gets concentrated. ok?
this takes about half an hour? or longer if you placed in more orange juice. the longer it is, the nicer, cause the chicken cubes will absorb the liquid and becomes more tasty. =)
Before you serve, [refer to picture above], place strips of orange zest on top and sprinkle rosemary leaves to make it look pretty and appetizing k?
This time, i rate myself 8.5/10.

i stayed away from talks involving skinny legs and sexy waistlines from the bevy of uber pretty air stewardess, cause i am SO not in their league. =P
besides, i was stuffing myself with sushi at one corner.
AND, talked about food somemore with Jeff’s fiance, Yuki who recommended so many japanese dishes for me to try. heh. so i cannot wait. =)
im currently in love with chawamushi and silken tofu. ive been eating them NON-STOP. =)

For the record, i am not aneroxic and i have no idea if im losing weight cause i cant really tell.
Though i am losing appetite and my pants are all getting rommier, which means i recently just started using a belt. Which is starting to scare me a bit.
mum actually asked me to eat. i am eating for the love of god. i really am. hmmm…
she even asked me to eat sweets. hmmm…..
i think i shall go rest cause i have another performance tmr.

Too many of us stay walled up because we are too afraid to care too much for fear that the other person does not care as much, or even at all.
We tell lies when we are afraid, afraid of what we do not know, afraid of what others will think, afraid of what others will find out about us.
But everytime we tell a lie, the fear in us grows stronger.
Life is about taking chances and sometimes it requires you to make a few jumps.
No doubt risky but do not be a person who has to look back and wonder what they would have done or could have had. =))
