a week’s musings

February 25, 2009

Finally met the girls after what felt like a thousand years. :)

busy schedules and other responsibilities just never seem to go away for us.

Funny thing happened during dinner, we were just enjoying our usual mala, when we started talking about work. and it gave me this warm fuzzy feeling that we’ve come one full circle.

i find it so strange (in a good way) that despite all of us working in different places (same industry), we interact with the SAME people!

you  know what’s even funnier? that despite the few yrs we’ve been ‘apart’, we still think the same way about some strange individuals. ;)

Monday was a horrible day! Got to work, opened up my calendar and saw all the slots taken up. NOT for the day, for the WEEK. yikes!

meetings after meetings after meetings after yet another meetings.. and then let’s throw in a couple of workshops! (which i actually am looking forward to)

but efficient me, managed to get most of the heavy things out of my hair by yesterday. (entailed me missing my lunch, staying back and not emailing my many many friends.) on the contrary to popular beliefs, emailing your friends during work is vital in ensuring your presence on earth.

however, to some souls out there: Unknown to you, you could be an unintended reason to extend my life.

Before you bare your own claws……..

Tip1:

You can’t deal with every difficult personality type. Depending on your own personality, you might, for example, be able to easily handle Clams (silent and unresponsive, clams shut up when confronted with challenging questions and situations that require immediate attention) but not a Catty Monger (one in EVERY office: one who not only loves to talk about everyone else, but also pass judgement on what they’re doing. They can lash out with sharp claws)

Tip 2:

People aren’t difficult, just different. It takes a bit of effort to understand what makes a person tick and where they are coming from. This is the first rule of effective communication

Tip 3:

If what you’re doing isn’t working, find a new way to do it! Be ready to try new ways to deal with people. It might involve changing yourself, which is always easier than trying to change others.

Tip 4:

Resistance does not mean “no”. The way around a “no” often means a healthy compromise or a completely different solution that’s worth looking for.

Tip 5:

Deal with the problem, not the symptoms. Build trust. Demand consistency. Communicate constantly. Praise liberally. Encourage growth.

Tip 6:

Describe behaviour, don’t judge it.

Tip 7:

Remember that the people who anger you, control you. (WOW. amazing. i love this the most!)

Tip 8:

Any behaviour not confronted will continue

Tip 9:

If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep getting what you’ve always gotten.

and there you have it. with Tip 7 and 9 as my ultimate fav! :)

finally….

“There is a bit of us that makeover fantasy in all of us. Trying to transform a full-grown man is a Herculean and improbable task. You will come to realise, hopefully sooner than later, that it is far easier to change the way you response to him. You have no real shot at changing another person. But you can change yourself.

Old myths die hard. We grow up thinking a blissful union means finding the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. These truths have taught me that the real secret to a satisfying marriage is being the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. “

:)

this boy does things that make me want to spank him. real hard.

but he likes being spanked. real hard.

win-win situation.

See, i don’t (the word here is actually limit) try to change him and i am myself. it works!

The Procession

Was so heartbreaking. I think if we dont get lost in the road, it will never be considered an outing. NEVER. and you really need to learn how to read the map. :) but i thought you did fab. eventhough it was AFTER we got lost. sayin goodbye is really something i’m not good with and i don’t think it’s easy for anyone to endure. and to go through the pain again in such a short time span, i do not know how you still manage to stand and face the world. We love you…but then again, you already know that.

Shabu Shabu

Yummy Yummy. :)

although our beef slices were a tad to thick. still yummy.

i like the flour noodle thingy, have to ask Mio where she got it from. :)

so inspired to have another lunch party. sigggghhh…. see lah, when the girls free, we can have our own steamboat.

Macdonald’s Drive-Thru

Macs have a new drive through right after you exit AYE from the west.

how to lose weight? :) i drove through, ordered the breakfast meal, stuffed my face with hasbrowns, gulped the ice milo, ate the burger. amidst the morning traffic, wah, it actually felt darn good!

S says if i try to change me (i.e.: lose weight), he’ll be angry.

together now… so sweeeetttttttt. :)

T3

Had a brilliant tour of T3-in and out of transit area! I must say i’m highly impressed with the advertising space (tons of ideas running through my head!)

and the business/first class lounge. Like LTL said, “once we sit in there… we know we’ve made it.”

still a loooooonnggg waaayyy…. only chance if our seats kena bump up. ha ha ha. actually, last time when i flew to Nepal, lucky enough to upgrade our seats. nothing awesome. i’ve never felt the dying need to sit down and be pampered by the girls. im sure they must be darn irritated to have to constantly give hot towels etc etc. plus, when i travel, i look like a mess. comfy PJ pants lookalike. i dont think i fit in very well with the uppity class.

but, in any case, it was a great tour! :)

Buffet @ Crowne Plaza

Met S after and tried out the buffet @ Crowne Plaza. wah. i could have died happy there eating the prawns. really. i LOVE prawns. and the celery stick……. and the dory fish…….. and the salmon sashimi……

yum yum yum. was so embarassed with the amounting prawn shells on my plate, i had to ask S to grab more for me. :D

that’s what other halves are for right? no?;)

Rooms@ Crowne Plaza

2 Kpo individuals went to yaya papaya ask how much it takes to stay one night there. i thought the price is ok actually. unless the difference btw crew rate and normal ppl (i.e.: ME) very stark. but i expected it to be much more expensive. hmmm…. turns out, hotel’s FULLY BOOKED.

unbelievable ah. must be VDay………….

DVDs

Dad bought so much dvds for me. :)

im a happy chick. Athough S got abit startled by the choice of shows/movies, he refused to sit and watch with me.

whyyy… nice what see girls screaming at each other and wrestle themselves against the floor. :) ke ke ke ke.

xoxo

Holidays

Hold your horses. NO, im not going anywhere. BUT, i was looking through my organizer, i just realised, 1st of May (Friday) is Labour day.

if i take ONE day on thursday, fly to say… bali (this is purely based on the fiction that i have a bottomless money pit in my pocket) then i fly back  Sunday, that is FOUR days of pure bliss!

sigggghhhh… i think it’s REALLY time i go Bali.

But S always says, “what about Perth?”

not even confirmed what that one…. skali push to next yr how?

cross the bridge when we get there hun…

Wall Mural

I am currently on the wall  of Singapore Poly@ biz school. I am honoured. ha ha. the first time i saw it, i covered my face, scurried into the lift and kept chanting ‘oh my god’, ‘oh my god’ in my uber shrill voice.

There are strange people who are dropping me smses and msn offline msgs and facebook msgs, telling me that they saw me on the wall.

waaaahhh… so touching. my own fan base. HA HA HA. (wishful thinking).

One of them went out of the way and went, “you should totally get rights from SP! get money!)

hello mr XYZ, not everyone wants money you know. -.- plus, im part of the alumni. very proud to be one also. they can display me as much as they want. they gave me more than what money can buy.

chebahhhh…… :)

BOB

Best of British @ Mimolette tonight. 11pm onwards. :)

im promoting cause my good friend is the DJ tonight. he is going to bring the house down!

grab your friends and head down to Mimolette!

ok ok ok…. i better finish up on my amounting reportsssss………….

Things that bug me

When a muslim boy comes and tells me:

“oh, you know, i cannot stand dating girls my own religion. not because of anything but because you know, so many restrictions that comes with being a muslim girl. have to go so many steps. wedding so much fanfare, than have to please parents. not as liberal as other races/religions. can’t travel, can’t go here or there. got curfew… i just cannot be bothered going through all those hurdles.Thats why i always dated girls from other religions.”

my god. i want to yank such boys into pieces and throw them into the yarra river.

seriously. give me a break. -.-

such boys are idiot. you are telling me that a girl from a christian/catholic/hindu/[insert other religions] background are what? more wild? more freedom?

what the hell.

you know what i have to say to such boys? nothing!

because clearly they have no brains to function with or absorb anything i have to say.

and to think it came from a muslim boy no less! -.-

pisses me off. clearly the boy hasn’t been exposed to proper religious teachings or cultural upbringing.

you know, you may have an issue with girls who are brought up in a strict environment but to generalise ALL muslim girls into one category and make it seem like they are being bounded with a leash really makes my blood boil.

I dont really care whether you dated a liberal/wild/care-free/no rules attached/ girl from a different religious background.

but stop to think that maybe that girl had poor upbringing (clearly) by her family and it had got nothing to do with religion. -.-

you can go and date as many non-muslims girls as you want. be my guest. but please, don’t forget your roots. dont forget your values, teachings, upbringing.

Dating someone out of your race/religion doesnt mean you denounce your own cultural/religious roots.  what more, speak ill like that.

I cannot stand hearing what stupid people have to say sometimes.

ps: the guy is smart. paper wise. WAS from a prestigious local uni.

how absurd is that.

More on Tennis

Nadal (the one with the ugly yellow-specks short) won.

big whoop. tsk.

I really want to get on court and rally!!!!!!!

i shall go book the court this weekend. :D

Lying

How can one lie when he/she hasn’t said anything?

Drama

“Do you remember how we were always at each other’s throats but somehow we always get nominated to act opposite each other? When we get on stage, magic sort of happens. i miss drama!”

“We ate drunkard prawns.”

ha ha ha ha ha. i couldnt stop laughing. we DID eat drunkard prawns on stage during one of our acts. i had to learn abit of hokkien cause i was a hokkien housewife (a chocolate one no less.)

i remembered being a teacher…housewife….evil queen (no need to act. ke ke ke ke.)…….

Britney Spears

aha…aha….wommannizzeerr…

circuss….. ooooooo…ah ah ah…

i shall declare it once and for all here.

im britney’s fan! (minus the train wreck bits…and the beating the red light… walking in the toilet bare-footed…. shaving her head……..)

Monster Love by Carol Topolski

ha ha ha ha ha!

Australian Open

February 1, 2009

Hello Mate!

I am back from Tassie.

Awesome drives….scenic place…. tons of fish and chips (no more for monthsssss….)

great place to drive, no ERPS, no irritating Beep beep sound from the IU, minimal traffic lights, scattered cars…. sea breeze…. damn awesome drives.

i shall post pictures (and move to shalyd and pay attention to her/him for a while. he he he he.) tons of things to tell you guys! :)

sooonnn…. after  i eat asam pedas….nasi goreng….. fish curry….. drooollllssss…

We cooked in tassy too! too expensive to eat out constantly, cheaper go supermarket and cook in the hotel. We stayed mostly in service apartments so kitchen is fully equipped, we drove and stayed in many many places, some of the apartments even have a washing machine and dryer, dishwasher, bread maker! SPLENDID!

bought 3 green chillies in Bicheno, paid 4 freaking bucks. siaaaooo…

on to greater news, did you guys watch the Australian Open???? :D

I DID! in AUSTRALIA! HAHAHAHA.

ok not live…. but still. i dropped by melbourne after Tassy and i SAW THE STADIUM..

one day…. when i have enough money and time to go queue up and buy tickets…. ok S? ;)

cant believe Nadal won Verdesco!

it was the longest singles  match in Australian open history and i watched every single second of it. (while experiencing the freaking heat wave in Launceston.)

Verdasco serves. just wow.

i dont know why people are raving over Nadal. granted his shots are powerful and his swings are literally 360 and yes his legs are so strong they can run forever.

there is just something abt his sportmanship that i dont like. or maybe i just have this habit of supporting the underdog…

but i was rooting for Verdasco all the way!

5 BEAUTIFUL EPIC SETS.

and the last point was lost because of a double fault. (verdasco SECOND double fault in the ENTIRE game. i think that is INCREDIBLE.)

and Verdasco scored more aces than Nadal.

and i swear Verdasco had a more continuous energy thruought the game compared to Nadal.

bah. so upset nadal won. really.

to a more aesthetic (not big an issue but still an issue to discuss) part……what is up with nadal’s outfit. seriously, doesnt Nike have bigger sizes for him? cause i swear one day his muscles are going to rip through his pants and top. i kid you not. He had wedgies every single time he serves (i watched 2 games.) and best part? SAME outfit. same top and same black shorts with mysterious yellow specks on them.

i do not get it. he has like 50 over rackets that were being re-strung WHILST he was playing and he cldnt get another pair of shorts? or more like Nike do not have other shorts to show off on court?

Nadal is my age….geesbeesjeeveeveees. he looks so much bigger i think he can crush me anytime.

Verdasco’s my new hero. i cldnt see what racket he was using. i might want to gettt……….heh.

i watched nadal vs Simon.

i was obviously rooting for the french. he was using Head racket, like me. :P

on the plane i heard Serena crushed Safina. like 6 love. yeowzers. how i wished i could have watched that game.

i am so pumped to go play tennis! i wanna rally. anyone?

i shall go bug S.

ok. tmr, FINALS! federar Vs Nadal.

i dont like either.

i shall go toss a coin and see who i should root for.

Didnt subscribe to the channel, i shall go hunt for someone who does……
